Skills for Life

1st Plympton Scout Group was formed in 1908 and still provides Skills for Life to young people today.

Welcome to 1st Plympton

The 1st Plympton Scout Group provides fun and adventure for young people aged from 6 years old. The Group has a current membership of over 140 young people persons and over 30 adult volunteers, the group is part of the South Devon District.

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment.

We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

1st Plympton Scout Group History

The group was founded in 1908 and initially met in a room in the working men’s club on Plympton Ridgeway. It had 2 other meeting venues, the Ridgeway Secondary School and a post war nissen hut on the edge of Harewood park. In 1976, Cottles Lodge was built and is now the current headquarters of the group.
